8 DIY Face Masks

These 10 natural ingredients can help you maintain an easy skin care regime – without even having to leave the house! Achieving healthier, happier skin could not have been easier with these D.I.Y face masks!

  • Cucumbers

Cucumber

With more than 96% water content, cucumbers offer a number of health benefits as well as numerous benefits to the skin and hair. Ascorbic acid present in cucumbers reduces water retention and hence helps in reducing skin irritations as well as puffiness and swelling. Cucumbers are also known for their anti-aging, anti-acne and complexion enhancing properties.

D.I.Y: Cut a cucumber in slices (or make a paste); close your eyes and apply the round slices on your eyes and face and relax for 15 minutes.  Repeat over time. Goodbye dark circles and puffiness!

  • Honey

Honey is an amazing natural skin moisturizer. It is rich in minerals and accelerates skin cell regeneration. Honey also helps reduce scars, wrinkles and other signs of ageing.

D.I.Y: Mix 2 spoons of honey with 3 drops of lemon in it. Apply the mask on your face and neck for 15 minutes. Wash with cold water for glowing skin.

  • Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is known for its soothing and moisturizing properties. Moreover, it can also be used to treat burns and skin inflammation, remove wrinkles, spots and scars. Using an Aloe Vera mask also soothes aggravated pimples and acne.

D.I.Y: Apply Aloe Vera gel on the face for just 10 minutes. The result? Healthy, glowing and radiant skin!

  • Baking Soda

baking soda

Baking soda is an ingredient commonly used in – you guessed it – baking. However, it can also be used sparingly to treat the skin. When applied as a mask or used as a scrub, baking soda balances the skin’s pH levels, purifies the skin, helps tighten and smoothen it and reduces blackheads and breakouts.

D.I.Y: Baking soda is an amazing home remedy for blackheads on the nose. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a small amount of water to make a fine paste. Dampen your face with warm water and apply the paste on the affected area. Massage for 2 – 3 minutes and let it dry. Rinse off the paste with warm water and splash cold water to shrink the pores. Repeat daily.

  • Rose Water

rose water

Rose water is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help treat sunburns, sunspots, age spots, and can generally brighten the skin complexion and tighten skin pores. It also helps fight acne, dermatitis and eczema.

D.I.Y: Rose water can be used with lemon as a skin lightening toner. Squeeze a lemon and mix the lemon juice with half the amount (as the juice) of rose water. Mix with water and spray the toner onto the skin or apply it directly to the face and neck with a cotton pad.

  • Tomatoes

tomatoes

Tomatoes are not only yummy to eat and good for the health, but can also be used in a number of ways to enhance and improve your skin. Tomatoes are known to reduce excess sebum, fight acne, shrink skin pores and for their skin protecting properties.

D.I.Y: Want to get rid of that tan? Mix honey or milk with tomato pulp to make a thick paste. Apply it on the face and wash it off after 15 minutes to get  smooth, glowing skin.

  • Sugar

sugar

Sugar is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment into the skin. So when you apply products with sugar or sugar derivatives, they’ll actually help hydrate your skin and retain skin moisture within.

D.I.Y: Mix sugar, honey, and a few drops of lemon juice to make a paste and apply it to the face. Wash off to reveal hydrated, softer skin. Quick tip: sugar also makes an excellent scrub!

  • Lemons
